Exercise Poorvi Lehar
Indian Navy conducted exercise Poorvi Lehar on the East Coast of India.
Key Highlights
- It is a maritime exercise conducted by the Indian Navy along the East Coast.
- Aim: To access Indian Navy’s preparedness and ability to tackle Maritime Security challenges in the region by testing its procedures.
- Participants: Eastern Naval Command, Indian Air Force (IAF), Andaman & Nicobar Command and Indian Coast Guard.
- This demonstrated a very high degree of interoperability amongst the defence services.
- The exercise was conducted in multiple phases :
(i) Tactical Phase: combat training in a realistic scenario
(ii) Weapon Phase: During weapon phase various firings were conducted towards reaffirming Indian Navy’s capability to hit targets accurately.
- It has also helped in maintaining continuous Maritime Domain Awareness throughout the Area of operations by using aircraft from diverse locations.
