Padma Awards 2024

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards 2024 during a Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi.

Key Highlights

In  2024, the President approved the conferment of 132 Padma awards, which include 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri awards.

The recipients of the Padma Awards in 2024: 

(i) M. Venkaiah Naidu (Former Vice-President )

(ii) Usha Uthup (Singer)

(iii) Rohan Bopanna(Tennis player ), and other eminent personalities.

 

About Padma Award

(i) Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian awards of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day after the Bharat Ratna.

(ii) Presented by: President of India

(iii) The primary objective of the award is to recognize achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.

 

Categories of Padma Awards

Padama Awards are classified into three categories:

• Padma Vibhushan: It is awarded for distinguished and exceptional service. 

• Padma Bhushan: It is awarded for distinguished service of a higher order. 

• Padma Shri: It is awarded for distinguished service.
