ISRO Designed Humanoid Skull- Vyommitra 

Recently, the Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) has designed a female humanoid Vyommitra for space travel.

Key Highlights 

• The Indian Space Research Organisation’s uncrewed Gaganyaan mission in 2025 will carry the  humanoid Vyomitra. 

 

Humanoid 

• Humanoids are robotic systems designed to resemble humans body in shape and function autonomously in space.
• Robotics systems are used to assist astronauts in performing repetitive or dangerous tasks in space such as cleaning of solar panels and fixing faulty equipment located outside the spacecraft.

 

Design of Humanoid Skull

• It has been made using the Aluminum Alloy (AlSi10Mg). 
• Aluminum Alloy (AlSi10Mg) is known for its high quality, light weight, heat resistance, flexibility and mechanical properties. 
• It is commonly used for making automotive engines and aerospace components. 
• Humanoid Vyommitra will resemble the upper body of the human, and will include movable arms, a face, and a neck.
