India’s First Fashion Forecasting Initiative: VisioNxt

Recently, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India has launched India’s first fashion forecasting system “ VisioNxt”.

Key Highlights

• The VisioNxt, a bilingual web portal and India-specific Fashion Trend Book ‘Paridhi 24x25’ is an initiative of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
• It has successfully designed a unique prediction model called ‘Deep Vision’.
• Deep Vision is an AI-based model designed to decode patterns and interpret fashion trends in India by analysing attributes like colour, style, regional influence, etc.
• This model identifies product specifics using convolutional neural network architectures. 

 

Objective

• It aims to identify, map, and analyze geo-specific fashion trends using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI). 
• It will reduce dependency on global forecasting agencies and also support weavers, homegrown designers, etc. 
• It will foster healthy global competition and elevate Indian culture and design to new heights on the international stage.
