New Flag and Insignia of the Supreme Court of India
The President of India recently unveiled a new flag and insignia of the Supreme Court of India.
Key Highlights
- It was designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi.
- The new flag is blue in colour.
- The flag design consists of three symbols:
- Ashoka Chakra: Represents the Dharma Chakras or Wheel of Laws.
- Supreme Court Building: It represents the institution of justice in India.
- Constitution of India: It highlights the role of the Supreme Court in safeguarding the Constitution of India.
- The new insignia has ‘Supreme Court of India’ and the Sanskrit Phrase “Yato Dharmastato Jayah” (-In Devanagari Script) inscribed on it.
- The Sanskrit Phrase “Yato Dharmastato Jayah” means “ Where there is dharma, there is victory” or “Victory lies where Dharma (righteousness) prevails”.
