Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launch (MBRL) System

Recently, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) announced the successful completion of flight tests of guided Pinaka multi-barrel rocket (MBRL) system.

Key Highlights 

• The MBRL system is designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
• It is named after “Pinaka,” a mythical weapon used by Lord Shiva. 
• It has a range of 60 to 75 kilometers.
• The system is capable of launching a salvo of 12 rockets in 44 seconds, which makes it an effective weapon for quickly overwhelming enemy defenses. 
• It is mounted on a Tatra truck for mobility.
• Armenia became the first export customer for the indigenously developed Pinaka with interest expressed by several countries in the system.
